Back for the 13th year, The Music Center’s Dance DTLA is an evening of dancing under the stars Friday nights in the summer months. The series features Dance Downtown where participants can learn new dance moves in a judgment free zone with a different dance genre at each event.

Author Jesus Ramirez-Valles discusses his book comprised of conversations with 11 racially and economically diverse representatives of this pioneering generation of gay men—the gayby boomers. Older gay men's approaches to friendship, caregiving, romantic and sexual relationships, illness, and bereavement is upending conventional wisdom regarding the aging process, LGBTQ communities, and the entire field of gerontology.

Our Great Tchaikovsky

A time-bending tale of music, politics, and one of the world’s most beloved composers. Known for the beautiful ballets Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker, a healthy 53-year-old Tchaikovsky conducted the premiere of his enigmatic Symphony No. 6, Pathétique, and nine days later, he was dead. To this day, how and why he died is still a mystery.

Produced by Goldenvoice, the three-day event showcases many genres of music, including rock, indie, electronic, as well as art installations and sculptures. The festival also has its own night market where people can buy food while watching the concerts. This year's headliners include Missy Elliott, Bjork, and out musician/rapper Frank Ocean.
