Californians Have Until Jan. 31 to Sign Up for Insurance through ACA

Although the Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance open enrollment window for most of the country is only six weeks this year, Californians have until January 31, 2018.

Open enrollment for health insurance began on November 1 nationwide and for much of the country ends on December 15.

But California is one of 12 states that doesn’t use Healtcare.gov as its official ACA Marketplace and can set its own deadline.

Other states with deadlines past November 15 are Connecticut (Dec. 22), Colorado (Jan. 12), District of Columbia (Jan. 31), Massachusetts (Jan. 23), Minnesota (Jan. 14), New York (Jan. 31), Rhode Island (Dec. 31) and Washington (Jan. 15).

For more information, go to the Covered California (coveredca.com) and L.A. Care (lacare.org) websites.
